a look into emily's wardrobe

Hello there!
I'm Ashley's younger sister Emily! Believe it or not, I used to dress like a tomboy. But with a little help from my sis, I'm now able to put together some cute, modest and feminine outfits. I really like the saying "dressing modestly is an art form". So true! Even though it is more difficult to find appropriate things when going shopping and it does take a little longer to get dressed, piece by piece it is possible to have a trendy and modest wardrobe! Because I have a budget to keep, it's fun to get creative with each article of clothing too! Here are a few pics of some of my recent outfits I put together. Which one do you like best?

true woman

Whew! Last week was crazy! Mostly good....but just plain loco (spanish for crazy...just fyi). Last Tuesday and Wednesday my family and I were looking at a few colleges and then Thursday thru Sat afternoon my mom, sister, and I were gone to a women's conference. The women's conference was fantastic! Here is a brief overview of my trip:
The women's conference was called True Woman and it was full to the rim of wonderful speakers such as Janet Parshall, Mary Kassian, Nancy Leigh DeMoss, and (my personal favorite) Pricilla Shire. The music was done by the Gettys and was of course absolute perfection!

Our trip also consisted of staying in a fancy hotel in downtown Indianapolis

Taking walks and exploring

Purchasing bags made by women in India who were rescued from human trafficking (I'm all for supporting that cause!!!)
And visiting Cracker Barrel to get some much needed candy and to play with toys. :)

The True Woman conference was such a blessing and a breath of fresh air. I know every single one of the 8,000 women who were there were convicted and touched in some way that weekend.

I just want to take the time now to encourage you girls to be involved in some sort of Bible or book study. Right now some girls in my church are going through "Girls gone Wise in a World Gone Wild" by Mary Kassian and I absolutely love it. It is one of the best books I have read on how to be a Godly woman. It is super easy to understand yet extremely matter how good of girl you think you might be. Look it up here! You can totally read it on your own, but I highly recommend that you go through it with a group of girls. There is a study guide, leader questions, and videos that you can purchase for that purpose!

I also recommend any Bible studies and books that Pricilla Shire does. She is such a powerful speaker and writer. She makes it so easy to understand and she is so relatable! Another thing I really like about her book studies is how you watch a video of her speaking before going through and discussing the book. It just helps me understand so much better! The next book study that the girls in my church are going to go through is "Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted". Here is a promo video of looks super good!!!

And now to end this post....I don't know whether you have heard of the Gettys or not......but if you haven' should totally check them out. They are modern day hymn writers that have written several songs which I'm sure you know! Songs like "In Christ Alone", "O Church Arise", "Across the Land", and "Speak O Lord". Oh, and did I mention that they are Irish? That makes them even more awesome. ;) Here is a song I randomly picked to show you all. I literally closed my eyes and pointed at my computer screen to pick because I seriously love them all. haha enjoy!

i will rise

I rise as You are risen
Declare Your rule and reign
My life confess Your Lordship
And glorify Your Name
Your word it stands eternal
Your kingdom knows no end
Your praise goes on forever
And on and on again
No power can stand against you
No curse assault Your throne
No one can steal Your glory
For it is Yours alone
I stand to sing Your praises
I stand to testify
For I was dead in my sin
But now I rise

good things

~Saw a beautiful sunrise this morning. Kind of justifies having to be up so early.
~Began and completed a five page paper today. Makes one feel good, ya know?
One more thing to mark off my check list.

~The annual Hispanic festival here in town is tonight. My family has participated in it since we moved here nine years ago. I can always count on having a good time....and using my Spanish.

~Went with some people from my church to see Hillsong Live last night. It was undoubtedly the best concert I have ever been to. Actually, it wasn't even a concert. It was a full out, three hour long worship service....and I loved every single minute of it.

(This picture is not taken by me. I wasn't allowed to take any pictures, so I took this one off of Hillsong's facebook page.)
I encourage anyone and everyone to go to a Hillsong concert at some point in their life.
Whether it is Hillsong Live or Hillsong United, it doesn't matter.
At the end of the night, your voice will hurt, your throat will be sore, your ears will be ringing, your legs will be tired from standing, and your arms will be tired from raising, but it is all worth it because you are doing it for God and no one else.
Even though you may be physically exhausted, you will be spiritually refreshed and ready to take on whatever life throws at you next.
This is one of my favorite energetic songs that they did. You couldn't help but run in place!

i heart mint

Yeah so, I actually have an entire board on Pinterest devoted to all things mint. It is probably one of my favorite colors right now. It is just so crisp, clean, elegant, and calming. Believe it or not though, I have nothing mint in my wardrobe! Nothing! (well...I do have fingernail polish...but that doesn't count.) Here are some of my favorite ways to wear the color mint:

~Cute summery party dresses~

~The perfect accessories~

~Breezy elegant shirts~

and of course......
~The classic mint jean!~

So yes, as you can see, mint clothing/accessories are definitely on my "to buy" list. ;)

What is your favorite color to wear right now?
